MWT’s annual season of Short Plays
13th – 23rd November
Gasworks Arts Park
SIX DEGREES AT A HOT MELBOURNE MARKET was the third season of short plays in the ‘Six Degrees’ series. The short plays for this production were selected through a blind-read process from scripts submitted by MWT members. The show blurb for Six Degrees at a Hot Melbourne Market ran as follows:
From his 19th century grave beneath the Queen Victoria Market, a Shakespearean actor rises for one final performance. In a dress stall above, two strangers are drawn to each other in a heated moment of fashion. Metres away, a robot with an IQ of 170 lovingly arranges bananas and fills a human labour shortage. And light years beyond, the Queen of Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables waits for someone she has never met. From the creators of the popular Gasworks shows Stark. Dark. Albert Park, Beachside Stories and Daring Dog Monologues comes this darkly humorous collection of stories. Go on – pull up a crate, grab a carrot and enjoy the magic of this Melbourne Market.
Written by Louise Hopewell, Alison Knight, Michael Olsen & Bruce Shearer
Performed by Lenny Andrusiw, Emma Drysdale, Ruben Francis, Del Jordan, Faran Martin, Rebecca Morton & Jonty Reason
