A large and appreciative audience was treated to a night of great writing and stellar performances at Eat My Words! 2 on 8th June. Our second script development workshop for the year, Eat My Words! 2 was deemed an “absolute success” by one audience member, with many of the opinion that the short scripts/excerpts presented were as good as, if not better than, the works presented at the first Eat My Words! workshop held in February.

Credit for any improvement must go not just to our stable of MWT writers and actors, but to Resident Director ELIZABETH WALLEY for her polished direction of the readings, and to Stage Manager MAZZ RYAN for her seamless lighting on the night. There are plenty of script reading events around Melbourne throughout the year, but we don’t know of many that invite the audience to participate in post-reading feedback, or offer them a chance to help shape the scripts of tomorrow. With a format that recognises the vital and positive role audiences can play in script development, Eat My Words! is a collaborative experience which is enjoyable for writers, actors and audiences alike.
