‘Before Gasworks Script Lab, I had never written a script.’ It was a response echoed by a number of participants from the Emerging stream of Gasworks Script Lab. A creative partnership between Melbourne Writers’ Theatre and Gasworks Arts Park and presented for the first time this year, Script Lab offered an Emerging and Mid-Career stream with the goal of further developing the writing skills of participants in both. From 18 participants came 18 scripts.
Some were existing, others brand new – all were redrafted under the guidance of Script Lab facilitators Michael Olsen (Emerging) and Elizabeth Walley (Mid-Career) and enriched by peer feedback before being workshopped with actors ahead of their presentation on stage in two Showcase NIghts held at Gasworks Arts Park on 24th & 25th October 2023.
