IN ONE ACT 2020
In 2020 In One Act developed the scripts of a new group of Victorian writers, including those pictured above.
An annual creative partnership between Yarra Libraries and MWT, IN ONE ACT gives new and emerging playwrights from across the city the opportunity to immerse themselves in an intensive five-stage playwriting program. 2020 marks the fourth year of this exciting venture.
Applications for In One Act open every year on 1st March and close on 30th April. This year we welcomed the following Participants (listed in alphabetical order) to In One Act 2020:
John Carroll
Greta Doell
Matthew Grant
Mary Henkel
Karlie Hunter
Greg Jennings
Lois Maskiell
Daniel Newell
Megan J. Riedl
Lobna Rouhani
Lourdes Zamanillo
This 2020 program began with a writing workshop on 13th June and culminated in two Performance Readings on 16th and 17th September. Given the government restrictions in place in Melbourne for much of this year, all of the sessions were delivered online via Zoom. Our hard-working participants did not miss a beat, and by the end of the five-stage program had each written, workshopped, redrafted and presented an original short play.
You can read a bit more about some of our 2020 participants here.
