Page to Stage 2021

 

In 2021 MWT will develop a selection of new, unproduced, full-length plays by MWT members through the                         PAGE TO STAGE Script Development Program.

The Program culminates with the Public Reading of scripts across two days.

STAGE 1: Selection        April

We would like to thank everyone who submitted a script for consideration in Page to Stage. Applications closed on Tuesday 6th April, and all scripts were sent to our 2021 independent selector, Elizabeth Walley, for reading, feedback and selection. The following scripts were selected for development in Page to Stage 2021.

  • Tatiana, Dragon and Friend by Inna Tsyrlin
  • The Jasmine Suite by Michael Olsen
  • Blackspot Hotspot by Bruce Shearer
  • Agenda Conversation by Mark J Wilson
    The following scripts were Highly Commended:
  • From Under a Rock by Mazz Ryan 
  • Jitterbug by Brooke Fairley

STAGE 2: Reading of scripts by Dramaturgs        May
Each playwright has been paired with a dramaturg, with whom they will work closely on the further development of their script. We warmly welcome the following dramaturgs to this program:

STAGE 3: Meeting between Playwright and Dramaturg     June
The playwright and dramaturg meet for a face-to-face (actual or Zoom) discussion of the script.

STAGE 4: Redraft #1     July
Using feedback received at the Meeting, the playwright completes another draft of their script.

STAGE 5: Feedback from Dramaturg     July
The dramaturg provides feedback on the first redraft.

STAGE 6: Redraft #2    August
The playwright completes another draft of their script.

STAGE 7: Directors receive Scripts    September
The scripts are cast for reading before an audience.

STAGE 8: Raw Readings    October
The scripts are presented to audiences on Zoom, over four nights.

STAGE 9: Redraft #3    October
The dramaturg provides final feedback – the playwright completes a final draft.

STAGE 10: Public Readings    November
The scripts are presented before audiences in a public space, over a weekend.
